In a study published in the journal Frontiers in Nutrition, it is noted that moderate beer consumption can be beneficial for health. International experts believe that the beverage is rich in various compounds that have a positive impact on the health of the digestive, cardiovascular, and immune systems. Among these, for example, are polyphenols found in beer malt.
In this sense, beer resembles yogurt, and kombucha: the beverage contains probiotics that have a beneficial effect on the gut microbiome. The breakdown products of beer in the body have anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, and antioxidant effects and can modulate the metabolism of glycolipids.
However, it is important to remember that ethanol, which is present in other alcoholic beverages, does not have these effects, note scientists.
Moderate beer consumption can prevent heart diseases, improve circulation, and even slow down the ageing process. Additionally, the beverage can improve the condition of patients with cardiovascular diseases, obesity, diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases, and even oncology.
“Beer has long established itself as a fermented beverage, rich in essential amino acids, vitamins, trace elements, and biologically active substances that participate in regulating various physiological functions in the human body,” the article asserts.
Scientists conclude: consuming beer in small quantities is much more beneficial for the immune system than either not drinking at all or excessive alcohol consumption.
Enjoy responsibly. Drink in moderation and know your limits. Do not drink and drive. It’s important to make safe choices for yourself and others. If you or someone you know needs assistance with alcohol-related issues, please seek help.
